PURPOSE: To obtain a facsimile equipment capable of detecting the execution of setting and setting width of an original guide plate.
CONSTITUTION: An ultrasonic wave can be generated from an ultrasonic wave displacement sensor 3 provided in a direction at right angles to the carrying direction of an original with the original guide plate in a direction intersecting orthogonally to an original carrier path. A reflector 4 provided at a position confronting with the ultrasonic wave displacement sensor 3 holding the original carrier path inbetween and provided with a step for the moving direction of the ultrasonic wave displacement sensor 3 reflects the ultrasonic wave generated from the ultrasonic wave displacement sensor 3. The ultrasonic wave displacement sensor 3 detects the ultrasonic wave reflected on the reflector 4, and sends a displacement signal to an original width detecting means 6. The original width detecting means 6 measures distance between the ultrasonic wave displacement sensor 3 and the reflector 4 by the displacement signal from the ultrasonic wave displacement sensor 3, and detects the position and setting width of the original guide plate from measured distance.
