Abstract:
PURPOSE:To readily obtain a high-quality and stable dehydrated medicine, by incorporating anhydrous maltose in a medicine, raw material therefor or processed intermediate material thereof, converting the water in the hydrous material into beta-maltose hydrous crystals and dehydrating the hydrous material. CONSTITUTION:For example, anhydrous maltose, particularly containing >=85w/w%, based on the solid material, maltose is incorporated in a medicine, e.g. nutriment, physiologically active material agent, germicide, etc., raw material therefor or processed intermediate material thereof to dehydrate the hydrous material. The anhydrous maltose is capable of converting water in various kinds of hydrous materials into beta-maltose hydrous crystals to substantially reduce the water therein and dehydrate the hydrous material. Crystalline anhydrous alpha-maltose, crysalline beta-maltose, amorphous anhydrous maltose, etc., may be preferred as the anhydrous maltose. The anhydrous maltose acts also as a stabilizer and is capable of producing a high-quality and stable dehydrated physiologically active material agent.
