Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for saving an exarticulated tooth. The tooth (29) is grasped by its crown, so as not to harm the periodontal membrane. The tooth (29) is then placed in a net (27) which is attached to a basket (25). The net and basket are immersed in a modified saline solution which preserves the cells of the periodontal membrane. The solution is held in a container (21) which accommodates the net and basket. The lid (31) of the container has a sponge (33) attached to its interior surface. The container is closed. Lateron the container lid (31) is removed and put on a table or other surface, so that the sponge (33) faces upward. Then the basket, with the tooth, is lifted out of the solution and the net (27) is inverted so that the tooth falls out onto the sponge and can be grasped with a forceps (30).
