CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I [R1 is H, OH, alkyl, alkoxy, methylthio, NH2, etc.; R2 is H, OH, alkyl, alkoxy, methoxymethyl, CF3, ethoxycarbonylalkyl, substituted phenoxy, Cl, etc.; X is O, S, NH, CH, CH2O, OCH2 or CR3R4 (R3 and R4 are H, methyl, CN, etc.); Y is 0, S, CO, sulfonyl, NH, CH2, CH=N, etc.; Z is N or CR7 (R7 is H, methyl, halogen, NO2, CN, etc.); A is group of formula IV to formula VII (R3 is H, Cl, methyl, COOH, etc.; (m) is 1 or 2); B is group of formula VIII (R' is H, halogen, alkyl, etc.; (n) is 1-3)] such as 2,6-dimethoxy-4-[4-(3-trifluoromethylphenoxy)phenoxy]pyrimidine. The compound is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III in the presence of a base in an inert solvent.
