PURPOSE: To provide an optical type shape measuring device which is constituted to high-precisely measure the shape of a work on a machine tool, such as a lathe.
CONSTITUTION: Under environment wherein oil and dust are serious at other time than a measurement time, such as a machining time, an object 1 to be measured is relatively moved from a space between a projecting part 2 and a light receiving part 3. A distance between the projecting part 2 and the light receiving part 3 is decreased and a projection opening part 4 is superposed with a light receiving opening part 5 and the superposed part is brought into a state to be not exposed to the outside. Thus, the projection opening part 4 and the light receiving opening part 5 are shut off from the outside and oil and dust are prevented from entering from the outside without installing a different shutter mechanism. During measurement, an air flow 6 is injected in a direction, crossing an optical axis at right angles, from an air flow generating mechanism 21. This constitution causes the change of entrance direction of oil and dust, intending to enter the projecting part 2 and the light receiving part 3 from a position above an optical axis, resulting in prevention of entrance of dust to the interior of a device.
