PURPOSE: To suppress attenuation of a lubricating effect in progression of drawing and to prevent seizure of a die by progressing a metallic wire to a die while rotating the wire around its axial center and drawing the metallic wire while including a lubricant into the die.
CONSTITUTION: The steel wire 2 is continuously imparted with twists by a twisting type mechanical descale in the fore stage of a lubricant box 9 and, therefore, the steel wire 2 rotates around its axis so as to relieve the twists at the time the steel wire 2 passes the lubricant LO and the die 10. Ruggedness is formed on the surface of the steel wire 2 and the lubricant LO intrudes into the rugged parts when the steel wire 2 is twisted and, therefore, the amt. of the lubricant LO advancing into the die 10 increases. The steel wire 2 progresses toward the die 10 while rotating in a lubricant box 9 and, therefore, the entrainment of the lubricant arises. Consequently, the amt. of the lubricant applied to the steel wire 2 is maintained at a high level and the drawing is executed at a high speed even with the high-strength material.
