Abstract:
PURPOSE:To detect initial leakage of thereby prevent contamination of electronic components by placing a substance, which changes to conductive from inconductive due to electrochemical reaction when it comes to contact with electrolyte, in contact with the anode can and cathode can in such a way as bridging them as a sensor. CONSTITUTION:An anode can 1 and cathode can 2 are sealed by caulking through a gascket 3, contents of battery such as an anode binding agent 4, a separator 5, a material impregnated with electrolyte 6 and a cathode active substance 7 are sealed inside, a center 8 is inserted for reinforcement and a leakage sensor 10 is placed in contact with the anode can 1 and the cathode can 2 in such a way as bridging them. As a leakage sensor, a vacuum deposited film of WO3 is used, for example. In this case, the vacuum deposited film of WO3 is colorless insulating film. When the film is placed in contact with the electrolyte under the condition that a battery voltage is applied to such insulating film, such insulating film changes to a conductive film in blue through the reaction indicated by the equation indicated below.
