PURPOSE: To simplify hoisting operations by employing a chain block when hoisting a balance weight in performing installation work using the main equipment of an elevator.

CONSTITUTION: A hoist 8 is provided in the machine room 14 of an elevator and placed on a hoist base 24, and the hoist base 24 is supported by a machine bed 20, and a mounting plate 23 movable toward a hoist sheave 9 is mounted on the lower side of the base 24, the position of the mounting plate 23 being adjustable by a position adjuster provided between the mounting plate 23 and the machine bed 20.
