Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The benzamide derivative of formula I [X1 and X2 are halogen or trifluoromethyl; Y is halogen, cyano or nitro; R1 is H, alkyl or halogen; R2 is H or alkyl; R3 is phenyl which may be substituted with halogen, nitro or alkyl, provided that when both R1 and R2 are H, R3 is phenyl having substituent group (halogen, nitro or alkyl)] and its salt.
EXAMPLE: 5-( 3-Chloro-5-trifluoromethyl-2-pyridyloxy )-N-[2-(2-chlorophenyl)-ethenylsulfonyl]-2-nitrobenzamide.
USE: Herbicide. It includes the Z and E steric isomers.
PROCESS: The objective compound of formula I can be prepared, e.g. by reacting benzoic acid of formula II or its reactive derivative, preferably acid chloride, with ethenesulfonamide of formula III.
