Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an agent which contains a surface active copolymer solution and is capable of reducing myocardial damage in an animal or human body. CONSTITUTION: This agent contains, as an active ingredient, a (ethylene oxide)-(propylene oxide) condensation product represented by the formula OH(C2 H4 O)b (C3 H6 O)a (C2 H4 O)b H (wherein: (a) is an integer selected so that a hydrophobic part represented by the formula (C3 H6 O)a has a 950 to 4,000 molecular weight; and (b) is an integer selected so that the total amount of the hydrophilic parts represented by the formula (C2 H4 O)b is 50 to 90 wt.% of the weight of the surface active copolymer). By suing the agent in combination with a fibrinolytic enzyme, a free-radical scavenger, etc., the combined mixture shows a synergism on the dissolution of a clot obstructing a blood vessel and is effective in recovering the blood flow passing through an obstructed coronary artery or any other obstructed blood vessel and maintaining the recovered blood flow. Administration of the combined mixture by intravenous injection is preferred.
