PURPOSE: To repair the inside wall of a blast furnace while hot with a small number of operators without requiring new installation of a manhole by suspending a repair material sprayer via a lifting device to a device which travels on a circular track provided to the circumferential edge in the lower part of the large bell positioned in the upper part of the blast furnace.
CONSTITUTION: A repair device consisting of an assembly of a traveling device 6, a lifting winch 7, a wire rope 8 and a sprayer 9 is mounted on a self-traveling type lifter 4 and is moved upward so as to be inserted through a manhole 2 of a blast furnace under the operation for reducing the stock level to the inside of the furnace. The insertion part is supported by a supporting chain 12 extending through an auxiliary manhole. The operator rides on the lifter 4 and while moving upward the lifter, the operator inserts the device 6 to a circular track 5, puts a cover on the connecting part, descends the lifter and retreats the same to the outside of the furnace. The device 9 is then descended down to the upper limit position of the wall to be repaired by a remote operation and a nozzle is extended or contracted or is adjusted preliminarily to a required length so that the distance between the tip of the spraying nozzle and the inside wall 1 attains a prescribed value. A force feeder for the repair material to be sprayed and water is then operated and at the same time the air motor of the device 6 is driven.
