PURPOSE: To provide an antibacterial and fungicidal agent comprising 1- aryl-3-(3,4-dihydro-4-oxo-3-quinazolinyl)urea compd. and effective to control and prevent phytopathogenic bacteria and fungi which infect and rot agricultural products.
CONSTITUTION: The compd. expressed by formula III which is useful as an antibacterial and antifugicidal agent of phytopathogenic bacteria and fungi is obtd. by reacting a compd. expressed by formula I (e.g. 3-amino-4(3H)- quinazolinone or the like) with a substituted cyanate expressed by formula II (e.g. 4-fluorophenyl isocyanate or the like) in an equiv. amt. in an inert org. solvent such as a chlorinated hydrocarbon such as 1,2-dichloroethane at 15 to 100°C. In formula I, X, X1 are H, F; Y, Y1 are H, halogen, (substd.) 1-4C alkyl, (substd.) 1-4C alkoxy or the like; A is O, S; R is H, A2R3 (A2 is O, S; R3 is H, 1-4C alkyl, phenyl or the like); R1 is H, (substd.) 1-4C alkyl. In formula II, Z, Z1, Z2 are H, halogen, (substd.) 1-4C alkyl or the like; A1 is O, S.
