PURPOSE: To prevent damage of collecting member and to improve rate of collection of fine carbon particles by constructing a filter body to an integrated structure enclosing a collecting member with a spacer member and arranging so as not to expose the collecting member facing positive and negative electrode sides.
CONSTITUTION: A dust collecting body 1 is constructed to form one body comprising a spacer member 1b consisting of an electrically insulative porous body and a dielectric dust collecting membrane 1a built in the inside of the spacer member 1b. The dust collecting member 1 is constituted of thin strips of metallic body such as aluminum foil, and is disposed between a positive electrode plate 2 and a negative electrode plate 3 arranged to face oppositely to each other. By such construction, positioning in the construction stage of the filter body is facilitated; moreover, the damage of the dust collecting membrane 1a is pevented since the membrane 1a is covered by the spacer member 1b. Therefore, decrease of capacity for removing carbon particles resulted by the damage such as hole formation, etc. is avoided.
