PURPOSE: To obtain an averaged flow-rate coefficient even when the velocity of flow-rate pulses transmitted by a flowmeter under calibration is unequal and to accurately correct a reference distance even when one sensor is detached in a maintenance operation.
CONSTITUTION: In a small-volume prover 20 which is composed of a measuring cylinder 1 and a piston 2 and in which the section PQ having a length L of the measuring cylinder is used as a reference volume, the reference volume is expressed by the section of reference lines 5, 6 formed by keeping a distance L for a piston rod 3, the reference lines 5, 6 are detected by a plurality of position sensors 9, 10 arranged and installed by keeping a prescribed interval D, and the reference volume is found by the average of detected values. In addition, when the plurality of position sensors are arranged at random unequal intervals, detected values are averaged and the flow-rate coefficient of a flowmeter which transmits unequal-speed flow-rate pulses is found.
