CONSTITUTION: In a type printer, a drive pulley 8, that is, a type belt 13 is rotated by the rotation of a motor 3. A selection lever 9 is revolved by turning an electromagnetic clutch 11 ON and a desired type 15 is stopped at the position opposed to a carriage 17 and a hammer 18 is driven to apply printing to paper. The paper is transferred by the quantity corresponding to one line by the pinch roller 25 and respective rubber rings 24 of a paper feed mechanism. In this case, the reference position signal detecting the initial position of the type belt 13 and the type position signal of each type 15 are detected to count a type position to apply printing. At this time, the reference position signal is detected at each time when the type belt 13 makes one revolution and the reference position signal after the printing of one line is detected after the printing of a final line to increase a printing speed.
