PURPOSE: To prevent generation of a mold and noxious insects by providing housing parts of BINCHO-TAN charcoal and ordinary charcoal by forming holes on a tatami mat padding, housing the BINCHO-TAN and the charcoal in incombustible containers with holes, and inserting the containers to the housing parts of the mat floor.

CONSTITUTION: Housing parts 6 of BINCHO-TAN and ordinary charcoal are formed in the compressed paper pulp member 3 and the foaming polystyrol material 4 of a tatami mat padding 1. In the housing parts 6 of the BINCHO- TAN and the charcoal, incombustible containers 7 with holes in which the BINCHO-TAN 8 and the charcoal 9 are housed, and the lids are closed, are inserted. Then Japanese paper sheets 2 are stuck on the whole surface of the tatami mat padding 1, and a mat facing 10 is jointed to the mat padding by stitching, so as to form a tatami mat used for a dwelling house and the like. Consequently, a malodor and the moisture are absorbed effectively, and generation of a mold and noxious insects can be prevented.
