PURPOSE: To obtain a polyolefin having a narrow MW distribution and a high bulk density, by employing a catalyst system prepared by combining a hydrocarbon-insoluble solid catalyst obtained from a solid complex containing Mg and Ti with an organoaluminum compound catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A solid complex of formulaI, wherein X1 and Y2 are each a halogen, R1 is an alkyl, aryl or cycloalkyl, D is an electron-donating compound, l is 0.1W100, m is 2W4, n is 0W1 and p is 2W200, is reacted with an organoalumium compound of formula II, wherein R2 is an alkyl, aryl or the like, X3 is a halogen and q is 1W3. From the reaction product a hydrocarbon-insoluble solid catalyst is separated by filtration or a like operation. The purpose polyolefin is obtained by polymerizng an olefin with the aid of a catalyst system prepared by combining the produced solid catalyst with an organoalumium compound cocatalyst (e.g., triethylaluminum).
