PURPOSE: To provide a reflection layer in good dimensional and positional accuracy which is located on the bottom surface of a display cell and presents an excellent discharge characteristic by furnishing a small hole for discharging in the reflection layer in a position over the electrode.
CONSTITUTION: A DC type plasma display has an anode electrode 3 and cathode electrode between a front plate and back plate consisting of an insulative material while a certain space is reserved in between, and a barrier wall 5 furnished between the two electrodes forms a display cell and an aux. cell. Within the display cell, a reflection layer 8 is provided on the oversurface of the back plate, and a small hole for discharging 9 is provided in the reflection layer 8 in a position over the anode electrode 3. This small hole for discharging is made in a certain shape, for example quadriangular, and each corner of the hole is formed in a curved surface. If the layer 8 and small hole 9 are made from a negative type photo-sensitive paste or positive type photo-resist, reflection layer 8 white, dense, and turned in glass can be formed with good dimensional and positional accuracy.
