Abstract:
PURPOSE:To display an image with presence sensation by putting a special pattern together with image data at a peripheral part other than a display surface. CONSTITUTION:The focal length of a convex lens 11 is nearly in the center of the pupil. The image plane position of a liquid crystal panel 13 and the image plane position of the special pattern are set to nearly equal distance to the lens 11, so there is no influence upon the contrast of the image on the panel 13 and the special pattern provided at the peripheral part other than a display area can be seen as if it were constituted on the same surface. Further, disturbance to an image which is originally required is generated because of the disperate quantity of transmitted light originating from the pattern shape of the special pattern, so deterioration in picture quality is prevented by setting the quantity of transmitted light of a diffusion plate 16 to the optimum quantity of transmitted light with respective patterns. The image data and special pattern are put together into an image to apparently increase the sense distance of the virtual image generation position of the liquid crystal panel 13.
