Title:
METHOD FOR SEPARATING NITROGEN AND CARBON DIOXIDE USING CERAMIC SEPARATING MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0819722
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a thermally stable separating material which can separate high temperature nitrogen and carbon dioxide by using ceramics prepared by a method in which sepiolite, after being ion-exchanged with zinc ion, is heat- treated as a separating material.

CONSTITUTION: Sepiolte, a clay mineral, is added into an aqueous solution of zinc nitrate etc., and the mixture is stirred adequately and allowed to stand at room temperature so that sepiolite is ion-exchanged with zinc ion. The sepiolite is dried and heat-treated at 800°C or below. When the separating material thus obtained is contacted with high temperature exhaust gas from fixed sources such as factories, nitrogen or carbon dioxide, after being adsorbed on the ceramics for the respective lengths of retention time, are desorbed. In this way, nitrogen and carbon dioxide are separated to contribute to the global environmental preservation.
