Title:
【発明の名称】ジヤイロスコープ装置
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6048684
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
1514780 Automatic control FERRANTI Ltd 20 Oct 1976 [22 Oct 1975] 43429/75 Heading G3N An inertial platform and at least one "dynamically-tuned free-rotor gyro" mounted thereon is aligned during run-up of the gyro by a procedure in which the outputs of two accelerometers (which are also sensitive to tilt) are combined with the outputs of gyro pick-offs to appropriately energize respective torque motors. The description sets out three distinct steps of alignment procedure. The gyro is defined as having an inertial element mounted on a drive-shaft by a spring coupling so that it is free to pivot about another axis, the spin frequency being equal to the natural frequency of vibration of the element when rotating on its spring support. Pick-offs detect motion about two perpendicular axes in the plane of rotation and thus one such gyro is equivalent to two single-axis gyros. The platform may carry a second such gyro or a normal single axis one. It is explained that initial alignment can be made quickly by the invention, utilizing the period while the rotor is still below normal speed.
