PURPOSE: To form a uniform erasing condition of an image and to improve durability of repeating by heating a display medium wherein a heat-sensitive layer with a reversibly changable transparency with temp. is laminated with a heat of the substrate itself.
CONSTITUTION: A heat-sensitive layer 2 is heated by scanning a thermal head from a protective layer 1 side of a display medium wherein a substrate 2 with a built-in heater 5 therein and the protective layer 1 are successively laminated. On the other hand, when the image formed by scanning this thermal head is eliminated, an electric current is energized in the heater 5 to heat at a temp. where the image of the heat-sensitive layer 2 can be eliminated. As the heat- sensitive layer 2 is directly heated in this method, elimination of the image can be uniformly performed and as no pressure is applied for heating, durability of repeating of image formation-erase is improved. In addition, when a protective layer 4 for the substrate is provided between the heat-sensitive layer 2 and the substrate 3, a solvent used for formation of the heat-sensitive layer 2 dissolves the substrate 3 and in the case when it gives a trouble to the heater 5, the effect of the protective layer is exhibited.
