Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method of purification capable of efficiently separating a neutral salt produced as a by-product and purifying taurine in a high yield at a low cost.
CONSTITUTION: In purifying taurine obtained through a production process, crystal precipitated by crystallization is separated from mother liquid of the crystallization, the crystal is treated with an aqueous solution of an alcohol containing hydrochloric acid. Successively the crystal is treated with an aqueous solution of the alcohol not containing hydrochloric acid to purify taurine.
