PURPOSE: To shorten the whole length of a machine body and to improve workability and efficiency of transportation and housing in arranging a preliminary seedling placing stand before a transplanting part.

CONSTITUTION: In a sulky rice transplanter wherein a transplanting part 4 is attached through a rise and a fall linking mechanism 3 to the rear part of a sulky traveling body 2 and a preliminary seedling placing stand 6 is laid at the front of the transplanting part 4 and at the rear of a seat 14 of the traveling body 2, a seedling stand 40 of the preliminary seedling placing stand 6 is overlapped at the upper position at the top side of a seedling placing stand 21 of the transplanting part 4 in the vertical direction and the seedling frame 40 is set at height wherein the seedling frame will not collide against the transplanting part 4 even if the transplanting part is raised by a rise and fall linking device 3.
