PURPOSE: To improve regist accuracy by driving a regist roller by means of a pulse motor at the rise of said driving and changing over the pulse motor drive to the synchronous drive of a photosensitive body in the position near the photosensitive body.
CONSTITUTION: An upper regist roller 16 is rotated in synchronization with a photosensitive body 1 by means of a timing belt 21. More specifically, the drive of the body 1 is transmitted via a pulley 24 to the roller 16 by a timing belt 21 when an electromagnetic clutch 19 is engaged. A pulley 23 for receiving the drive of a pulse motor 18 is further provided to the shaft of the roller 16 so that the drive of the motor 18 is transmitted by a timing belt 20. A one-way clutch 25 is engaged with the pulley 23 so that the drive from the pulse motor idles when the drive of the body 1 is transmitted to the roller 16 upon engaging of the clutch 19.
