PURPOSE: To obtain a cartridge loading mechanism in which the position of a cartridge inside a cartridge carrier can be ensured with sufficient accuracy by a simple constitution.
CONSTITUTION: A carrier 4 which houses a cartridge is arranged so as to be raised and lowered freely with reference to a drive unit 2. Positioning pins 8 which can be coupled to coupling holes in a cartridge C are formed in the drive unit 2, a gear 35, for shutter opening and closing, which releases a shutter S is arranged and installed on the carrier 4, the positioning pins 8 for the drive unit 2 are coupled once to the coupling holes in the cartridge, and the gear 35 for shutter opening and closing is operated at a point of time when the carrier 4 is returned to a position just before it is mounted on, and attached to, the drive unit 2.
