Abstract:

PURPOSE: To attain high speed information recording impressing a voltage over an avalanche breakdown voltage to a depletion layer of a semiconductor layer of a medium.

CONSTITUTION: An information recording medium 10 is fixed to a turntable 20 by an air chuck or the like, and a moving stylus electrode 21 is used for a voltage impression electrode at recording. When a voltage is impressed from a pulse power supply 25, an organic ferroelectric substance being an opposite part to the electrode 21 is polarized in a prescribed direction to record information. Since a depletion layer is produced in the semiconductor layer corresponding to the part where the polarization is directed downward, a change in a static capacitance is detected by a pickup circuit to read recording information. Since the polarization inversion speed is increased, the high speed information recording is obtained by selecting the voltage impressed to the information recording medium to be a voltage over an avalanche breakdown voltage of the depletion layer of the semiconductor layer.
