PURPOSE: To certainly prevent mis-suction in pick finding of the end of a new roving and to cut the new roving nipped by a roving-ending head to a length sufficient to end the roving without any hindrance.
CONSTITUTION: After performing pick finding by sucking a new roving through a suction nozzle under a high suction pressure while rotating a full bobbin, the suction pressure of the suction nozzle is reduced. The suction nozzle is then moved down while sucking the new roving and the new roving is nipped by a roving-ending head between the full bobbin and the suction nozzle. The suction nozzle and the roving-ending head are relatively moved in the vertical direction and the new roving is cut by engaging the new roving with a roving cutting member set to the suction nozzle. The suction nozzle is connected through a suction pipe 18 to a cotton-collecting box 15. An opening 33 made in the cotton-collecting box 15 is opened and closed by a shutter 39 so as to change the intensity of the negative pressure applied to the suction nozzle.
