PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound esasily in one state-reaction efficiently by easy operations, by reacting an easily handleable orthocarbonic ester with a glycol.
CONSTITUTION: An orthocarbonic ester of formulaI(R is lower alkyl) is reacted with a glycol of formula II[(B) is polymethylene group of -(CH2)n, preferably n is an integer 2W4], e.g. ethylene glycol, 1,2-propanediol or 1,2-butanediol, to give the aimed compound of formula III. If the alkyl groups (R) in the compound of formulaIbecome large in the reaction, the boiling point of the formed alcohol is increased, and the removal thereof to the outside of the system is difficult. Therefore, the compound of formulaI(R is 1W5C), e.g. tetramethyl orthocarbonate, is preferably used. Preferably, the compounds of formulasIand II which are dried as much as possible are used in the reaction.
