PURPOSE: To carry out the prime work, the coating work and the like by using a suction pump of large volume having poor quantitative properties but a quantitative pump of high quantitative properties having poor self-suction properties and connecting the pump with a dye coater, a coating material container and the like by means of piping.

CONSTITUTION: In carrying out the coating work, first respective valves 3, 11 and 14 are opened as the prime work, and a valve 6 is closed and a self- suction pump 1 is actuated. A coating material is circulated through a suction pipe 4 and a replenishing feed pipe 15, while a part of the coating material is filled in a quantitative pump suction pipe 9, a quantitative pump discharge pipe 13 and a dye coater feed pipe 12. After that, a quantitative pump 8 positioned lower than the liquid level of a coating material tank 2 is actuated, and the coating material is fed into the quantitative pump 8 by the syphon action and introduced into a dye coater 10 to carry out the coating. On the other hand, for the purpose of transferring the coating material from an auxiliary coating material container 5 to the coating material container 2 during the coating work, respective valves 6 and 14 are opened and the self-suction pump 1 is actuated.
