PURPOSE: To guide only required traffic information by judging whether or not the present position of a vehicle is shifted along a recommended route and varying the guidance amount of the traffic information corresponding to the judged result.

CONSTITUTION: When a route guidance part 13 receives the traffic information received by an external information receiver 15, a guidance processing corresponding to the monitored result of a follow-up monitoring part 12 is performed. When the vehicle follows up the recommended route, the route guidance part 13 extracts a link number with spot information included in the traffic information. Since the travelling route of the vehicle is stored inside a device in a state for which the link number are arranged in groups as well, whether or not the number same as the link number indicated by the traffic information is present in a link number group ahead of the link number of the vehicle position at present is judged. It is defined that the traffic information is to be guided and a guidance message is prepared when affirmative judgement is contained and guidance is not executed when negative judgement is obtained.
