Abstract:
A liquid filter (10) is proposed for purifying fuel on motor vehicles, which ensures high safety under the most diverse crash conditions. The filter element (18), which is arranged in the interior (17) of the filter housing (13), is inserted into a tubular protective casing (34) made of a flexible, tear-resistant plastic material which loosely surrounds the filter element (18) and encloses a collection space (38), in which the filter element (18) is located, and which is sealed off on all sides from the interior (17). If the filter housing (13) is deformed in a crash and becomes leaky, despite this, no fuel can escape to harm the environment, since it remains within the still leaktight protective casing (34) which is likewise deformed with the filter element (18).
