PURPOSE: The titled safe controlling agent with low toxicity, containing a metallic peroxide slightly soluble in seawater, e.g. calcium peroxide or magnesium peroxide, as an active constituent, suitable for preventing the adhesion of marine organisms to ships, fishing nets, general submarine structures, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A controlling agent containing a peroxide of a metal selected from Group IIa in the periodic table which is slightly soluble in seawater, particularly at least one selected from calcium peroxide, magnesium peroxide, barium peroxide, zinc peroxide and strontium peroxide, as an active constituent. The metallic peroxide has a weak effect on the killing of damaging animals living in the sea, but prevents the adhesion of the damaging animals to the bottoms of ships, fishing nets, etc. or inhibits the growth or propagation thereof after the adhesion.
