Abstract:
PURPOSE: To avoid damages due to a comparatively high load drive voltage, without using additional technology by limiting the drain voltage of a switching transistor through protection transistors. CONSTITUTION: A main part of this circuit is composed of a switching transistor T1 and protection transistors T2, T3, T4. When an input voltage is fed to an input terminal Vin , the transistor T1 turns on. A gate G2 is held at a fixed voltage VEE, the transistor T2 turns on, and transistors T3, T4 feed a drive output to a load terminal 01. An input terminal Vin changes to VDD, the transistor T1 turns on, and the transistor T2 turns off to lower the base of the transistor T3 to VEE. A source S2 of the protection transistor T2 lowers, and its source potential is held near VDD. This protects the drain and drain/gate of the transistor T1 from a breakdown.
