PURPOSE: To substantially reduce rinse water for final rinse operations by eliminating a large amount of water on a vehicle by blowing, wiping or brushing off prior to supply of a small amount of rinse water to the vehicle before the final rinse operations.

CONSTITUTION: A gate 1 is moved back again in the direction of the arrow B, and complete plain rinse water is sprayed on the surface of a vehicle at the rate of about 5 l per vehicle by a spraying pipe of the width of the gate, namely an arch spray device 6 in the interim. By using this small amount of rinse water, a small amount of remaining water content still remaining on the surface of the vehicle after the prior blowing can be fully rinsed out or rinse water possibly remaining after dry operations can be dried without spots by fully diluting the same. In dry operations, the gate is first moved in the direction of the arrow A, them moved in the direction of the arrow B while a blower 5 is actuated.
