Date Dec. 4, 1997The invention discloses the manufacture of a metal tank comprising the following steps: coating a strip of sheet steel with a thermally adhesive polymer based layer, preparing segments provided with assembly zones from the blanks of the said coated sheet, assembling the said segments at the assembly zones, consolidating the assembly by cold mechanical assembling means and heating to activate bonding of the polymer layers in contact at the assembly zones. The invention is useful in particular for manufacturing fuel tanks and heat exchangers.
