Abstract:
While specialists have hitherto been unanimous in their opinion, strengthened by observation, that an implant made of titanium or similar material should have a surface roughness of more than 20 mu m, so that the bone connects satisfactorily to the implant, it has been found that a significant improvement in the connection between bone and implant can be achieved when the latter is provided with a micro-roughness of at most 2 mu m.
