Abstract:
PURPOSE:To surely obtain Tl-based oxide superconductors whose critical temp. are regulated to values in the desired ranges, respectively, in respective compositions by specifying heat treatment conditions in the manufacturing process and also performing rapid cooling. CONSTITUTION:A mixed raw material in which metallic elements constituting a Tl type oxide superconductor are mixed in the prescribed ratio is calcined at 800-950 deg.C in an oxygen-containing atmosphere. Subsequently, the resulting calcined compact is cooled slowly in an oxygen-containing atmosphere. Then, reheating is exerted in vacuum or in an inert-gas atmosphere, and, when the calcined compact reaches the prescribed temp., this sintered compact is cooled rapidly. As the inert gas, nitrogen is preferred. The above-mentioned method is effective, in particular, for Tl2Ba2Can-1CunO2n+4 as the Tl type superconducting oxide.
