PURPOSE: To avoid the contact of a paper feeding cassette and a semicircular roll when the paper feeding cassette is removed, by rotating the semicircular roll to a waiting position separated from the paper feeding cassette linking to the removal operation, when the semicircular roll for paper feeding is at a non-waiting position in the removal time of the paper feeding cassette.

CONSTITUTION: When a semicircular roll 10 to convey papers separately is at a non-waiting position in the removal time of a paper feeding cassette 1, a rack gear 22 provided to the paper feeding cassette 1 is engaged with a pinion gear 21 provided coaxially to the cemicircular roll 10 following the removal of the paper feeding cassette 1 to a specific position, so as to rotate a driving shaft 11. In this case, since the number of teeth of the rack gear 22 is set more than the number of the teeth 21a of the pinion gear 21, the rack gear 22 rotates the pinion gear 21 forcedly to the position opposing to a cutting surface 21b. As a result, the rack gear 22 and the pinion gear 21 are made in a non-engaged condition, and the rotation of the driving shaft 11 is stopped at the waiting position of the semicircular roll 10. Consequently, the contact of the paper feeding cassette 1 and the semicircular roll 10 can be avoided.
