Abstract:
PURPOSE:To safely and efficiently peel and remove the bacteria bonded to a packed bed and to prevent an increase in the pressure loss of the packed bed, in a gas-liquid contact tower having the packed bed of a packing material having bacteria bonded thereto by setting the interior of the tower or the packed bed to an anaerobic condition. CONSTITUTION:In a gas-liquid contact tower 3 having a packed bed of a packing material 2 having bacteria bonded thereto, the interior of the tower 3 or the packed bed is set to an anaerobic condition. The gas-liquid tower 3 is a deodorizing tower of malodorous gas due to bacteria or a scrubber tower lowering the temp. of high temp. gas. That is, at first, the gas flowing in the apparatus is cut off to stop the supply of air or oxygen to the packed bed and only an anaerobic state may be formed in a hermetically closed state but, thereafter, a reducing agent (e.g. sodium hydrogen sulfite) is added to a circulating solution to bring the circulation solution to an anaerobic state and, by supplying this circulating solution to the packed bed having bacteria bonded thereto, the whole of the packed bed can also be brought to an anaerobic state. As a result, the bacteria bonded to the packed bed can safely be and efficiently be peeled and removed.
