Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method and a system for dynamically controlling the use of data compression for data communication. CONSTITUTION: A method for selectively compressing a data communication frame and a computer system for the same are provided concerning data transfer between a computer system 20 having a processor 22 and one other system 40 at least. The work load of processor 22 is periodically identified concerning this processor 22. A predetermined and stored threshold is identified and compared with the identified work load. When the work load is larger than the threshold, the data communication frame is transmitted without being compressed. In the other case, the communication frame is compressed and transmitted. The state of communication line is identified concerning data transfer. In case of idle state, the data communication frame is transmitted without being compressed.
