Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain odorless isoparaffin solvents having low ultraviolet absorption and a light lubricating oil by subjecting a B-B fraction to oligomerization in the presence of a catalyst, primarily hydrogenating and desulfurizing a polykerosene fraction, then adsorbing and desulfurizing the treated substance and secondarily hydrogenating a fraction. CONSTITUTION:2-5C Saturated and/or unsaturated hydrocarbon mixture comprising 4C as a main component is subjected to oligomerization in the presence of an oligomerization catalyst (e.g. amorphous silica-alumina) at 50-160 deg.C at 0.2-1.0 liquid space velocity in 60-95% conversion ratio, a polykerosene fraction having >=130 deg.C distillation temperature is treated at one stage in the presence of a hydrogenating (desulfurizing) catalyst (e.g. Ni-Mo) in a hydrogen atmosphere, then adsorbed and desulfurized, a fraction having <=320 deg.C distillation temperature is hydrogenated in the presence of Ni nickel to give the title substance. Since the reaction product is odorless, has low ultraviolet absorption, low sulfur and high stability, the reaction product is useful as a solvent for producing resins, a solvent for coating compound or a solvent for polymerizing polyolefin.
