Abstract:
PURPOSE:To form a dense and homogeneous calcined oxide superconducting layer on at least an inner surface of a hollow member, such as pipe, in a short time and obtain the subject superconducting material by forming an electrodeposition layer on the inner surface of the hollow member by electrophoretic deposition using specific a constitution. CONSTITUTION:A hollow member 1 (e.g., pipe made of Ni) having electric conductivity imparted thereto is used as the inner surface of at least a hollow part and one or more spacers 8 consisting of an insulating material (e.g., acrylic resin) are provided in the hollow part. An electrode 7 is supported by the spacers 8 and arranged so as to pass through the central part of the hollow part. For example, the above- mentioned hollow member 1 is then dipped in an electrodeposition liquid 3 prepared by dispersing a superconducting powder (e.g., powder of a composition YBa2Cu3Ox) or a precursor powder of a superconductor and filled in the interior of the hollow member 1. In this state, a current is passed through an electrically conductive part and electrode 7 to carry out electrophoretic electrodeposition and form an electrodeposition layer 4 on the inner surface of the hollow member 11. The hollow member 11 is then taken out of the electrodeposition liquid 3 and heat-treated to form an oxide superconducting layer 9.
