PURPOSE: To automatically and effectively control the answering state by deciding whether the identifier image added by its own device is included or not in the document which is transferred in both directions.
CONSTITUTION: The transmission processing includes a general document transmission mode and an answer request document mode which requests a receiver to answer. When an answer is required, the document image read by an image scanner 4 is stored in a bit map memory 5-2. Then a document name (identifier) is inputted through a keyboard 7 and then synthesized with an original image. The synthesized identifier and image are transmitted via a public line 11. The area where the identifier can be synthesized never overlaps the original image. Then the received image is once stored in the memory 5-2, and the existence of an identifier is decided by an image recognizing program 2-1. Thus an answering state control table is updated and completed. In such a way, the answering state is automatically controlled and therefore the working efficiency is improved. Furthermore a general image transmitter is available at the opposite side and requires no special function.
