PURPOSE: To provide the molding device and molding method for an optical element which can uniformly and rapidly heat a glass blank material up to a desired temp.
CONSTITUTION: A mold 12 for molding constituted to transfer a desired shape to the surface of the glass blank material 40 by pressing the glass blank material 40 is provided. The optical element is molded by heating the glass blank material 40 up to the molding temp. by the heat transfer from the mold 12 for molding. At least a part of the mold 12 for molding where the temp. rises to the molding temp. of the glass blank material 40 or above is subjected to a blackening treatment and at least a part where the temp. falls below the molding temp. of the glass blank material 40 is subjected to a heat reflection treatment.
