Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain stable rotation in a bearing device placed even under its condition at both high and low pressures, by providing a shallow ventilation groove on a joint face between a shaft and the housing of a thrust bearing member. CONSTITUTION:If either a shaft 13 or a housing 11 rotates at a constant speed, the pumping action by grooves 12a, 13c, 13d generates the pressure, and contactless rotation is performed. The alphanumeral 12e is a ventilation port being placed on a thrust bearing member 12 and provided on its contact face to the housing 11, that is, on a face identical to that of the group 12a. The ventilation port 12e, by which gas 16a such as air or the like confined in a bearing chamber is communicated to the atmosphere, eliminates any differential pressure, that is, the gas 16a is discharged outside through the ventilation groove 12a when the pressure is reduced while the air is fed into the bearing chamber through the ventilation groove 12a from the outside reversely when the pressure is increased, and an outflow of lubricating oil is never caused even under the both high and low pressure conditions but the lubricating oil is held by its own surface tension and visocity in the grooved parts 12a, 13c, 13d, thus bearing performance, not different at all from that when the pressure is normal, can be obtained.
