PURPOSE: To provide an ignition device for vehicle which exhibits excellent ignition performance by means of simple and cheap constitution and even in high engine speed territory by controlling energy accumulation of a DC/DC converter coil and charging/discharging of a condenser by a single switching element.
CONSTITUTION: From an electric power source VB, a DC/DC converter coil 1, a reverse current preventing diode 2, a condenser 3, and a bypass diode 4 connected in parallel to the primary side coil 51 of an ignition coil 5 are connected in series, so as to constitute a condenser charging circuit. One end of a switching element 6 is connected to one side of the condenser 3, so as to constitute a condenser discharging circuit from the primary side coil 51 to the condenser 3. Further, the current value of the switching element 6 is detected by a current detecting element 7. After the switching element 6 is set On until the detected value of the current reaches a decided value, the switching element 6 being OFF is controlled to be ON by means of a switching control means 8 in synchronism with an ignition command signal IGt.
