PURPOSE: To achieve miniaturization and enhancement of detection accuracy related to a load detecting device which detects a load applied to the shock absorbers of a vehicle as that applied to a suspension.
CONSTITUTION: An absorber rod 3 is locked in the through hole 4a of a diaphragm 4. A bracket 5 supports the outer periphery of the diaphragm 4. The bracket 5 is secured to a vehicle body 10 via an upper support 6 and an upper support bracket 7. Thin films of distortion resistance elements 9a, 9b are formed on the surface of a distorting portion 4c which is formed above an annular groove 4b by providing the diaphragm 4 with the annular groove 4b. A bound stopper 8 is provided to abut to the lower surface of the bracket 5, and when an excessive load is applied the load is transmitted directly to the bracket 5 so as to reduce the load of the diaphragm 4, thereby enabling miniaturization of the diaphragm 4.
