PURPOSE: To provide the real image type variable power finder which has a power variation ratio of about 6 and a ≥60° viewing angle at the wide-angle end by introducing a light shield surface in a relay system.

CONSTITUTION: The whole finder consists of an objective system 1, the relay system 3, and an ocular system 5. The object system 1 consists of four positive, negative, negative, and positive groups in order from its object side and is varied in power by moving the 2nd group 12 and 3rd group 13. The relay system 3 consists of two groups of convex lenses. The ocular system 5 consists of a convex lens in one group. The eye ring diameter is controlled by providing the light shield surface between the two groups of convex lenses of the relay system 3 to facilitate aberration compensation. The eye ring diameter in the center of the screen is never made unnecessarily large, so the real image type finder which facilitates aberration compensation is obtained.
