Title:
MANUFACTURE OF SINTERED ELECTROMAGNETIC STAINLESS STEEL MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5837149
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture a sintered electromagnetic stainless steel material free from the segregation of P and having high density and high dimensional accuracy by adding a specified amount of P to Cr stainless steel powder in the form of ferrophosphorus powder, mixing them, and die-pressing and sintering the powdered mixture.

CONSTITUTION: To 10W20wt% Cr stainless steel powder is added 0.2W0.8wt% P in the form of powder of ferrophosphorus such as Fe3P, and they are mixed. The powdered mixture is die-pressed and well sintered at a temp. up to a temp. just below the eutectic point to solidify the skeleton. Fe-P eutectic is then produced, compaction is rapidly accelerated by liq. phase sintering, and the liq. phase is decomposed by sintering at a high temp. By the decomposition P is diffused in the matrix and the segregation at the grain boundaries is prevented. The sintering is carried out in a vacuum or a hydrogen atmosphere under reduced pressure.
